Roof System: Standing Seam Metal Roofing (Red Finish)
Property Type: Multi-Building Residential Community (HUD/VIHA Housing)
Project Description
The Walter I.M. Hodge Pavilion project consisted of a large-scale roof replacement across an extensive residential community comprised of multiple multi-story buildings. The scope of work included the full removal of deteriorated roofing materials, substrate repairs where required, and the installation of a hurricane-rated standing-seam metal roofing system designed for long-term performance in the coastal climate of St. Croix, USVI.
Each building received new underlayment, upgraded flashing, reinforced perimeter metal, and corrosion-resistant fasteners engineered to withstand salt-air exposure and high wind loads. The latest red standing seam metal system provides exceptional durability, improved waterproofing, enhanced roof drainage, and long-term structural protection.
Because the community remained fully occupied throughout construction, operations were carefully coordinated to maintain access, minimize disruption, and ensure the safety of residents. Work was sequenced building by building and integrated with on-site logistics, staging, and environmental controls.

Overview
Walter I.M. Hodge Pavilion is one of St. Croix’s largest residential housing communities, supporting hundreds of families across a connected network of multi-level residential buildings surrounded by green spaces, walkways, and communal amenities.
Years of UV exposure, salt-laden winds, and previous storm damage had significantly affected the existing roof systems, making replacement essential for the long-term safety and resilience of the community. The installation of the new standing seam metal roofs dramatically improved the property’s structural integrity and weather resistance, bringing the buildings up to modern performance standards suitable for Caribbean hurricane zones.
Beyond the technical benefits, the uniform red standing seam metal roofs bring a clean, refreshed aesthetic to the entire community, enhancing curb appeal and contributing to a more cohesive and visually appealing environment for residents.
